About the 7th Annual Salute the DJ Award Show
7th Annual Salute the DJ Award Show in full swing for the top of the year
Atlanta, Ga.- Continuing the tradition of honoring the gatekeepers of hip hop and R&B, the city of Atlanta is gearing up for the 7th Annual Salute the DJ Award Show at The Atrium Events Center January 23-26th, 2016. This year’s theme is “DJs Are the Key” and the socially intense night will bring out ATL’s top tastemakers, radio personalities and media professionals in urban music.
The action-packed, four-day event is the only DJ awards ceremony of its kind. The festivities are kicked off with a Welcome to Atlanta Party on Saturday, January 23 and will also include performances by several major label recording artists and surprise DJs, emerging artist showcases and enough parties throughout the city to shut the A-town down.
“DJs are the unsung heroes of urban music,” explains Shukura "LADY SHACK" Cha-Jua, owner of founding sponsor Ov'r Da Top Promo-tions. “Artists are always in the spotlight. They always get the shine. But the DJ plays the music. The DJ keeps the party going. The DJ breaks new music to the public. And this is our way of giving back to the ones who give so much to us all.”
In 2009, the very first Salute the DJ Awards was conceived by Ov'r Da Top Promotions and several other organizations that came together to or-ganize a groundbreaking DJ event that would be held in Atlanta on an an-nual basis. The Salute the DJ's Awards was created to honor and celebrate DJs and individuals who have influenced rap music and hip hop culture across the globe.
This year is going to be better than ever!”
